Houston Classical Charter School (“Houston Classical”) was chartered by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to open in Houston in August 2020, beginning with kindergarten and first grade. The school has an accomplished and committed Board, which includes a founding Board and a Head of School. We are seeking experienced, dedicated, and motivated individuals who are excited about the challenge of being part of a growing school.

The Role

The Family Engagement and Enrollment Coordinator is responsible for leading Houston Classical’s student recruitment, enrollment, and community engagement efforts. This role oversees all aspects of student recruitment strategy, enrollment operations, and the overall family experience. The Coordinator ensures that every interaction with prospective families reflects the school’s mission, maintains the highest level of customer service, and builds strong community partnerships to meet and exceed enrollment goals.

Job Duties & Responsibilities Community Partnerships
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local organizations, businesses, and community partners to support the school’s mission.
  • Develop partnerships that provide resources, opportunities, and support for students and families.
  • Represent the school at community events and cultivate a positive presence in the local area.
Family Engagement, Event Planning & Volunteers
  • Plan and coordinate events for students and families that create a welcoming and inclusive school community.
  • Recruit, train, and manage parent volunteers to support school events, programs, and initiatives.
  • Develop systems to gather family input and feedback to strengthen engagement efforts.
  • Ensure families are informed, supported, and actively engaged in the school’s culture and programs.
Enrollment & Compliance
  • Lead efforts to ensure the campus reaches and maintains 100% enrollment.
  • Lead and actively execute student recruitment, outreach, and retention initiatives.
  • Ensure all enrollment documentation is collected, accurate, and compliant with local and state requirements.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Collaborate with school leaders, teachers, and operations staff to align and actively implement family and community engagement efforts with school goals.
  • Maintain consistent, proactive communication with families, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and timely updates.
  • Create and distribute a monthly newsletter to current and incoming families.
  • Provide training and direct support to staff to strengthen family engagement practices across the campus.
Qualifications
  • Experience in family engagement, community outreach, event planning, or volunteer management, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.
  • Experience coordinating parent or community volunteers is strongly preferred. Excellent relationship-building skills with families, community partners, and volunteers. Strong organizational and project management abilities, with proven experience planning and executing events.
  • Knowledge of enrollment processes and compliance requirements in a school or nonprofit environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish or other languages) preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced school environment.
  • Willingness to work evenings or weekends for school and community events as needed.
  • Deep alignment with the mission and values of Houston Classical and commitment to educational equity.
