12th Grade AP Microeconomics Teacher – IDEA Spears College Prep (26-27)
IDEA College Prep Teachers are responsible for ensuring that every IDEA student masters the academic and social skills necessary to succeed in college, while also embodying IDEA’s values daily.
As a 12th Grade AP Microeconomics Teacher at IDEA Spears College Prep, you will set ambitious goals for student achievement, design rigorous lesson plans, and help students earn college credit through dual enrollment, AP, or IB courses.
Compensation- Starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience: $64,000 per year.
- Stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership ranging from $500 to $4,000 each.
- Additional hourly compensation for after‑school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.
- Comprehensive benefits plan covering majority of employee premiums for base medical plan and subsidizing most costs for spouse/domestic partner and children.
- Paid Family Leave—up to 8 weeks for birth or adoption, dependent on tenure.
- Tuition Reimbursement—up to 50% of qualifying tuition, max $5,250 per year subject to budget.
- Employer‑Paid Mental/Behavioral Health—5 face‑to‑face counseling sessions per year, unlimited 24/7 telephonic counseling, etc.

- Relocation allowance may be offered.
- High level of content‑area proficiency: teaching certification, relevant field of study, or work experience (strongly preferred).
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four‑year institution (required).
- Experience in a K–12 classroom setting (strongly preferred).
- State certification preferred but not required.
- Relevant coursework indicating subject‑matter experience.
- Knowledge of core academic subject, ability to pass grade‑level aligned assessments.
- Basic knowledge of curricula and instructional practices.
- Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability to varied situations in the school environment.
- Implement state learning standards, IDEA curricula, and assessments.
- Learn, master, and deliver content and grade‑level curriculum.
- Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
- Use formal and informal assessments to track progress, adjust plans, update gradebook weekly.
- Communicate students’ progress with students and families weekly.
- Use technology to enhance learning and manage tasks.
- Apply a clear behavior management system aligned campus‑wide initiatives.
- Help shape a culture that fosters a productive learning environment.
- Establish cooperative relationships with students and families.
- Host tutoring sessions as needed.
- Participate in weekly manager check‑ins, grade‑level meetings, before/after‑school duties, school‑wide meetings.
- Engage in summer and year‑long professional learning.
- Work minimum 40+ hours per week at school.
- Additional duties: after‑school tutoring or Saturday school as needed.
