Project Overview:
This position is in support of several major projects in execution in the US Gulf Coast region in Texas and Louisiana.
Bechtel is seeking an Instructor for the Energy team, based in the US. The position will be responsible for the Skills Verification Testing Program, Construction Craft Professional training, and Practical exams on the project. Primary responsibilities include verification and training of Craft skills such as:
Pipe, Electrical, Scaffolding, Millwright-Boilermaker, Carpentry, Concrete, Rebar, Structural Iron, and Rigging. The role provides training to Craft Professionals and contributes input to Workforce Development programs and procedures. You may create documents and videos for craft training, take attendance, perform trade testing, and assist with dispatch of employees when training is completed. Your work will contribute to employee skill development and ensure training compliance meets requirements.

- Responsible for the Skill Verification, Competent to Operate program (CTO), and training Craft Professionals.
- Support Craft Professional training programs at each Gulf Coast site.
- Conduct NCCER Project specific training.
- Ensure that the training and assessments programs are consistent with NCCER.
- Provide training to all levels of helpers, journey, foreman and general foreman.
- Responsible for Craft Competency Compliance to ES&H Core Processes and Standard Work Practices and Procedures.
- Maintain communication with leaders of each trade to define needs and provide construction support with training.
- Support recruitment when needed by interviewing potential Crafts applying for jobs with technical questions.
- Share Bechtel's Vision, Values and Commitments (VV&C) with Craft Professionals.
- Maintain and update craft training classroom materials.
- Frequent site visits (50%+ travel) to assess and verify progress of the skills taught in training.
- Collaborate with community college faculty to align craft curriculum with project needs and facilitate transitions for students from academic settings to project sites.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
- NCCER Certified or Accredited in a Craft.
- Demonstrable work experience with ideally 10 years of construction experience.
- Previous experience supervising staff, ensuring efficient operations and team performance.
- Experience in formal or informal teaching/training/instruction is preferable.
- NCCER Trainer certification is a plus
- Electrical/Instrumentation background.
- Excellent communication, writing, and time management skills; ability to set up and maintain training facilities.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience in one or more trade disciplines (Electrical / Instrumentation).
- Ability to communicate with external and internal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work effectively with management, supervision, and team members to achieve goals.
- Strong ethical judgment for craft evaluations and instruction.
- Willingness to travel 50%+.
