Special Education Co-Teacher Pool

Spring Independent School District has multiple openings for Special Education Co-Teacher positions in Houston, TX. Please note this job posting is for multiple positions, Special Education Co-Teachers may be assigned to any elementary campus within the school district (within the Houston MSA).

Duties Include:

* Implement instructional program.

* Utilizes knowledge of learning styles and modalities.

* Correlates IEP with regular education curriculum guides.

* Requisition s materials, equipment and supplies needed for implementation.

* Serve as a member of the ARD/IEP Committee.

* Administer criterion-referenced testing and recommends appropriate goals and objectives based on results.

* Participate in placement decisions based on educational, sociological and physiological data presented to the committee.

* Assist regular school personnel in providing an appropriate educational environment for students included in the general education classroom.

* Establish new objectives based on the findings of the appraisal team to be presented as recommendations to the ARD committee.

* Redesign curriculum to suit new objectives.

* Suggest and provide alternative teaching methods.

* Serve as a co-teacher or in class support for a specific subject area as appropriate.

* Assess the relation between student performance and disabling condition.

* Provide remedial or tutorial assistance to students.

* Utilize the special education staff and coordinate input to meet the needs of each special education child.

* Request and coordinate the available special services of the District as needed.

* Establish frequent communication and cooperation with the student's family to facilitate the environmental changes necessary to premeditate learning and/or behavioral changes.

* Maintain confidential records of assigned students and complete end-of-year reports and other evaluations.

* Fulfill the campus duties as assigned to other teacher's subjects only to the program needs of the special education child.

* Compile with the position description of the regular classroom teacher as applies to special education students in co-teach or in-class support situations.

* Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the principal.

Employer will accept a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent in Education, and a valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
