PART‑TIME PARENT STARS ASSISTANT – Children’s Museum Houston

Pay Range
  • Base pay: $21.00/hr – $21.00/hr

Job Summary

The Parent Stars Assistant works with the Parent Stars team to implement the Parent Stars program—a parent engagement initiative that helps parents of young children promote science, math, and literacy learning at home and in classrooms. This part‑time position supports up to 29 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in delivery of Family Learning Events and engage parents, children, and attendees.
  • Assist with transportation of program materials as needed.
  • Coordinate with Parent Stars Manager and staff for setup, implementation, and breakdown of events.
  • Collect evaluations and sign‑in sheets for all events and return them to the Parent Stars Manager.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management, both internal and external to the Museum.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Detail‑oriented and a team player.
  • Availability for flexible hours, including evenings and some weekends.
  • ability to travel throughout the city and region to present Parent Stars programming in various settings.
  • Reliable transportation.
Education

Some college (or equivalent).

Experience

2 years’ experience working with elementary school‑aged children preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Push/pull cart and dolly.
  • Bend at knees.
  • Stoop/climb.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs.
