Primary
Purpose:
Responsible for assisting the teacher in the implementation of a developmentally appropriate pre-kindergarten program that meets the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of four year old children. This person is an integral part of the instructional program under the direction of the teacher.
Skills:
Education/Certification:
- Minimum of 48 college hours or high school diploma/equivalent plus pass a District Assessment.
- Educational Aide Certification.
Skills:
- Ability to work with young children.
- Ability to perform indoor and outdoor activities.
- Ability to perform activities that involve a variety of media (paint, paper, clay, glue, etc.) or activities that may be physically active.
- Ability to work and communicate with adults and children effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional Support:
- Work under the direction of the teacher to provide appropriate instruction to individuals and small groups.
- Assist in maintaining a safe environment conducive to learning.
- Maintain classroom management and implement daily schedule.
- Assist in communicating with parents.
- Assist with escorting children in transition from one area to another (within the room and within the school).
- Help children to feel comfortable in the school environment.
- Facilitate transportation of children to and from school on a daily basis.
- Assist in record keeping, clerical duties and the preparation of materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Work with frequent interruptions.
- This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.
- Repetitive hand motions.
- Prolonged use of the computer.
- Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.
- Moving small stacks of textbooks, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
