About the Campus

Lone Star College offers high‑quality, low‑cost academic transfer and career training education to 80,000+ students each semester. The Creekside Center provides day, evening and weekend credit courses, including university‑transfer courses and certificates, and is located at 8747 West New Harmony Trail, The Woodlands, TX 77375.

Job Purpose and Scope

The PT Advisor II serves as the first point of contact for students, providing academic advice and direction to help them plan their degree, select courses and enroll. The advisor tracks academic progress, educates students on LSC policies and relevant state and federal rules, and represents LSC internally and externally.

Essential Job Functions
  • Acts as the campus advisor for all students regarding academic progress.
  • Provides individualized one‑on‑one advising on degree requirements and course selection.
  • Assists students with transitions to 4‑year institutions.
  • Coordinates transfer events with College Relations and universities.
  • Monitors, tracks and reports student cohort progress, retention and completion rates.
  • Advices students on course prerequisites, co‑requisites and recommended sequences.
  • Provides information on campus/center resources and services.
  • Reviews degree plans, approves or denies graduation requests and processes registration repeals.
  • Develops workshops, information sessions, recruitment events and informs students of employment opportunities.
  • Works with local school districts on advising CTE, dual credit, tech prep and potential students.
  • Assists students in creating resumes and cover letters.
  • Handles immigration issues for international students, ensuring compliance and providing admission counseling.
  • Participates in committees and meetings such as Graduation, Veteran’s Luncheon, All Male Summit, Female Summit, Open House, New Student Orientation, etc.
  • Performs other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with common office software.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail for tracking student success and educational plans.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with all student levels.
  • Ability to prioritize duties effectively.
  • High level of customer service.
Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items (papers, books), or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required.

Work Schedule and Conditions
  • Equipment: PC workstation with LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and general office equipment.
  • Interfaces with internal and external contacts as needed.
  • Work is performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Work experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience working with students who have unique barriers and successfully helping those students achieve educational success.
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate: $25.22 per hour
