Job Description Summary / TWC SummaryJOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision the TRIO Academic Advisor is responsible for providing comprehensive academic, career, personal, and financial advising services to a caseload of program participants. This position plays a critical role in supporting first-generation and low-income students by fostering a college-going culture, promoting postsecondary access, and ensuring successful student outcomes. The advisor will work closely with students, parents, school personnel, and community partners to deliver individualized support and group-based programming.

Essential Duties Summary- Provide academic, personal, career, and financial aid advising through individual and group sessions, workshops, and ongoing support services.
- Recruit and support a caseload of eligible TRIO participants, guiding them through academic planning, college exploration, and career development.
- Strengthen the college-going culture within target schools by engaging both students and parents with information on college admissions, degree programs, certificate options, and financial resources.
- Collaborate with target school staff, campus departments, and community partners to promote student participation in college and career readiness events.
- Coordinate and assist with campus visits, college fairs, career days, scholarship searches, and TRIO-sponsored programming.
- Maintain accurate and confidential advising records, document student interactions, assess needs, and track student progress in accordance with program goals and federal guidelines.
- Attend professional development trainings to stay current on trends in college admissions, financial aid, and career pathways.
- Attend professional development trainings to create awareness of current trends in the areas of college admission requirements and career explorations.
- Develop and conduct in-service workshops and seminars to promote college access and awareness among students, families, and campus/community stakeholders.
- Share best practices and collaborate with colleagues in similar roles to enhance student engagement and outcomes.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of TRIO program objectives.

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of:
- Policies, procedures, practices and equipment.
- Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.
- Experience working with disadvantaged youths
Skill in:

- Both verbal and written communication.
Ability to:
- Prepare detailed reports.
- Work independently.
- Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment or water treatment system
Required:
Two (2) years to three (3) years of related experience.
Prolonged standing and/or walking. Handling light weight objects. Using or carrying equipment. Awareness of school safety protocols.
