Position: Non-College Work-Study| Career Peer Ambassadors

Center for Career & Profession Salary : $15.00 per hour

Description:

Career Peer Advisors (CPAs) are students supporting the Center for Career and Professional Development staff with career‑coaching/counseling content and activities. They assist students during drop‑in hours, perform student outreach as necessary, provide interactive presentations to their peers, and provide overall support for the Career Center.

Duties
  • Assists with resume, cover letter, and personal statement review
  • Guides on interview preparation
  • Assists with career assessment, job option exploration, degree selection, or change
  • Helps in job search strategies
  • Helps develop a professional online presence for students
  • Participates in Career fairs
  • Assists with graduate school research
  • Collaborates on student outreach, presentations, and tabling and participates in college‑specific meetings and events
  • Represents UHD at employer recruitment events, presentations for outside organizations, and conferences; contributes to cold calling campaigns to solicit student progress and needs
  • Assists with facilitating services and referral sources for student needs that go beyond the scope of career services
  • Assists Career Coaches with at‑risk students in selecting an attainable degree that keeps them in school

  • Demonstrate high ethical standards, integrity, professionalism, politeness, and courteousness
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills, as well as problem‑solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to confidently give presentations to groups of students with a clear speaking voice
  • Ability to work effectively in an inclusive and diverse work environment, requiring working independently and collaboratively
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled UHD student (at the Sophomore level or above)
  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA
  • At least two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to commit to at least two (2) or more semesters
  • Available to work a maximum of 20 hours per week
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer junior, senior, or graduate student
