Overview

To develop and implement a comprehensive ministry to the youth, children, and families of Christ Memorial Lutheran Church and School. The primary task of this ministry is to:

Love youth and family where they are
Encourage youth and families in developing and deepening their relationship with God
Provide opportunities for leadership and growth
Challenge them to respond to God’s call to serve in the community and world
A COMMITTED DISCIPLE who has a desire to grow in their personal faith, knowledge, capability, and experience
A SKILLFUL WITNESS with a strong desire to reach the unchurched and a sincere heart for the lost, especially among the younger generations
An INSPIRATIONAL COMMUNICATOR who is able to teach effectively and build enthusiasm for family and youth ministry
A PASSIONATE LEADER who is able to organize, develop, and implement various aspects of the ministry
A flexible TEAM PLAYER who is willing to joyfully work alongside Christ Memorial’s ministry staff
A LIFELONG LEARNER who can serve as the expert to bridge generational gaps

Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Children, Youth, and Family (CYF), at the direction of the Lead Pastor, and with collaboration alongside the Leadership team and Ministry Facilitators, will be charged with the following responsibilities in administering and further developing the CYF ministry for Christ Memorial Lutheran Church and School:

Design, build, and oversee a youth and children ministry at CMLC, including Confirmation, Bible Studies, Regular and Seasonal Programming (VBS, National Youth Gathering, etc.).

Cultivate a ministry relationship with Christ Memorial Early Childhood Learning Center, including students and families, working with the ECLC Director to discover new ways to grow together;

Work with the Pastoral Staff to provide (or create) resources to enhance a multigenerational ministry at CMLC, with the intention of raising up volunteers and leaders within the congregation;

Actively seek to reach the unchurched in our community by partnering with area organizations;

Ensure a safe and secure environment in all areas of responsibility;

Support and collaborate with the Lead Pastor and Music Director for various aspects of worship, especially as it pertains to CYF;

Support and serve other Christ Memorial ministries as personal gifts and passions allow, such as worship ministry, education, and outreach;

Serve as an active member of Christ Memorial in worship and fellowship.

Qualifications

Solid faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Understand and embrace Lutheran doctrine and theology.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree. A degree in Christian Education or similar is preferred.
Have knowledge of the Lutheran theological tradition.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Understanding of legal and ethical intricacies of ministry to underage individuals, including safety, security, integrity, and confidentiality.

Passion for ministry to young people.
