Primary PurposeAssist young adults and teachers in the special education TOPS program, which is a program focusing on job training.
Qualifications/Skills Education/Certification- Minimum of 48 college hours or high school diploma/equivalent plus pass a District Assessment.
- Educational Aide Certification.
- Obtained or Ability to Obtain a Texas Commercial Driver License to transport students preferred.
- Ability to work with young adults using appropriate interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work and communicate with children and adults effectively.
- Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Assist in carrying out the instructional program under the supervision of teaching personnel.
- Assist in maintaining student records.
- Assist in preparation, use and maintenance of job training materials and equipment.
- Assist with teacher planned activities, exercises and drills.
- Follow teacher instruction and guidance.
- Assist in maintaining student records.
- Assist in supervising student grooming activities.
- Supervise students in job related settings
- Participate in planned inservice and professional growth activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Work with frequent interruptions.
- This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.
- Repetitive hand motions.
- Prolonged use of the computer.
- Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.
- Moving small stacks of textbooks, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
- Physical capacity to lift, transfer and otherwise assist students with disabilities (e.g. ability to lift 50 lbs.).
