Purpose and ScopeIt is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. The faculty member’s role encompasses learning facilitation, professional development, and institutional service.
Essential Job Functions- Teaches courses in Computer Information Technology at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs.
- Makes continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
- Develops and uses a syllabus for each course or laboratory within college and departmental guidelines.
- Plans, develops, and uses a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives and are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles.
- Evaluates students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives and informs them in a timely manner of their progress in the course.
- Submits required college reports and forms.
- Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials.
- Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Provides access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.
- Responsible for professional development and institutional service as determined in consultation with the Dean.
- Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.

- Demonstrated leadership skills; a collaborative, facilitative style.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a diverse group of people.
- Commitment to academic excellence and a dynamic learning climate.
- Ability to design and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and effective technology use.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise networking technologies.
The work is sedentary with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, and driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions- Work in a climate‑controlled classroom/lab environment with minimal safety hazards.
- Hours vary by class time; instructors are required to meet all scheduled classes and be available to students outside of class instruction.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer information technology, computer engineering, instructional technology, or a related business/computer field.
- Three (3) years of non‑teaching work experience in the field or industry certification(s).
- Current industry certifications in network security and/or cybersecurity, e.g., CCNP, CAP, GSLC, Security+, CISSP, CASP, CISM, SCCP.
- Background in cybersecurity and network security.
Commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.
