LSC‑Houston North Fallbrook is located at 12750 Walters Road, Houston, TX 77014, and offers 14 classrooms, two computer labs and two science labs for students pursuing Associate degrees.
Job DescriptionIt is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide the learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of the course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning. Adjunct faculty are hired part‑time on a semester‑by‑semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the System.
An adjunct may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year.
- Teach Geography courses at a variety of times and locations
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
- Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
- Meet with and advise students before or after class, by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
- Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
- Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
- Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned
- Mastery of course content
- Demonstrated leadership skills emphasizing collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people

The work is sedentary. The employee may need to walk, stand, bend, carry light items, or drive an automobile. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions- Equipment used includes a PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards
- Hours vary by class time; instructors must meet class schedules and be available to students outside instruction
- Master's degree in Geography or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Geography
$55.44 per contact hour
