Second Baptist School is currently seeking an experienced full-time early childhood teacher for PK4 for the school year.

Second Baptist School seeks an experienced early childhood teacher to serve in PK4. Teachers will plan, organize and implement a developmentally appropriate, Christ-centered program that nurtures each child’s spiritual, social-emotional, cognitive and physical growth. This role partners closely with families and colleagues to support a caring community, academic excellence and Christ-centered education.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIREDTo perform this job successfully, candidates must be willing and able to:
- Build a safe, joyful, orderly classroom grounded in biblical truth and age-appropriate routines
- Design play-based learning and centers that develop early literacy, number sense, fine/gross motor skills and language
- Differentiate instruction and support diverse learners within small-group rotations
- Observe, document and communicate student growth using developmental benchmarks
- Collaborate with instructional aides and specialists; maintain professional, timely parent communication
- Report to work on a regular and punctual basis and maintain cooperative, effective working relationships
- Perform other duties that support the goals of the lower school program
We seek the following in qualified candidates:
- A bachelor’s degree (early childhood, child development or elementary education preferred)
- A strong Christian testimony and a calling to serve as a positive Christian role model to students
- Three or more years of lead-teacher experience in PK3, PK4 and/or Bridge (strongly preferred)
- State teaching certification (EC–6 or comparable) preferred
- Exceptional written and verbal communication; strong organization and classroom management
- Proficiency with instructional technology and a commitment to ongoing professional growth
- A responsible steward of school resources and a personal commitment to support the school’s fundraising efforts as able
Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:
- Plan, prepare and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons and center-based activities that promote active learning
- Establish clear objectives for learning and communicate them to students and parents
- Manage daily routines (arrival, transitions, restroom breaks, snack, rest time) with care and consistency
- Model and reinforce positive behavior; maintain discipline in alignment with SBS policies
- Monitor and document student progress; adjust instruction based on observations and data
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, assessment notes and parent communication
- Partner with families through regular updates, prompt replies and scheduled conferences
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional aides and specialists; participate in chapel and school events
- Prepare the classroom environment, materials and displays; safeguard student health and safety
- Assign and review age-appropriate practice; provide timely, constructive feedback
- Attend meetings and professional learning; contribute to school wide initiatives
Ideal candidates should have at least three or more years of teaching experience and/or hold a teacher certification from a state agency or school accreditation agency.
An advanced degree, independent school teaching, coaching and prior knowledge of Second Baptist Church and School are considered a plus.
