This position will mentor and advise students about higher education, including the financial aid, completing FAFSA application, and Apply Texas application. The mentor will also provide financial aid options and assist students with finding and utilizing appropriate resources. The mentor is required to provide high-level information, may interact one‑on‑one with students, and may interact with a high volume of customers. The mentor will work with and assist diverse groups.

- Record maintenance, preparation and review of forms, data entry
- Provide handouts and/or forms to customers
- Maintain inventory
- Set up Financial Aid equipment (such as go‑center computers)
- Event preparation and support
- Collect and record data
- Maintain knowledge of multiple programs
- Provide limited technology support to end users
- Interpret regulations and policies
- Maintain and/or process records

The work is sedentary. The employee sits comfortably to do the work, with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items such as papers and books, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions- Equipment: PC workstation with Microsoft Windows, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed
- Work performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal safety hazards
- High School diploma or GED
- Must be a currently enrolled Lone Star student pursuing a course of study
Hourly Pay Rate: $16.22 per hour
