At Houston Methodist, the Training Specialist is responsible for implementing and delivering orientation programs, training programs, and competency development programs to employees throughout the Houston Methodist system in a variety of formats including in-person and virtual. The Training Specialist should create an engaging learning environment in both classroom and virtual environments.

Other responsibilities include coordinating training schedules, assisting in training needs assessments and the identification of knowledge gaps, and assisting with the generation and reporting of training metrics in support of operations.

• Education
  :
  Bachelor’s degree in training, communication, education, healthcare, industrial-organizational (I/O) psychology, instructional design, or related field.
• Experience
  :
  Three years of experience in a training support, instructional design, or training role; healthcare experience preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications
  :
  Vendor certification in facilitation and assessment tools preferred.

  :

  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers with customer service focus.

  • Excellent customer service and professional communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to navigate multiple software programs, LMS, and meeting software.
  • Understanding of learning theories and instructional delivery practices.
  • Proficient facilitation and presentation skills.

• Implements and delivers orientation programs, training programs, and competency development programs in various formats.
• Maintains strong interpersonal relationships with stakeholders and customers.
• Assists with research and development of program materials, ensuring proper citations.
• Assists team members in needs assessment and knowledge gap identification.
• Develops new learning options utilizing current curriculum development principles and learning theories.
• Assists in evaluation of learning content and determines utilization plans.
• Provides assistance in coordination and execution of initiatives supporting the department.
• Coordinates training schedules, ensures participant information, material, equipment etc.
• Creates communications and supports marketing activities.
• Participates in work groups and committees across the system.
• Assists in data gathering, analysis, and reporting of metrics.
• Ensures course and learning evaluations are completed and reviews data.
• Determines need for materials, equipment, and supplies; orders or procures within budget.
• Generates new ideas and suggestions that improve quality of service.
• Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility.
