As a KIPP Texas Public Schools Special Education Instructional Aide, your core responsibilities include:

  • Working with students in instructional and classroom activities under the guidance of teachers.
  • Assisting with academic, functional, and specific instructional or physical activities.
  • Tutoring students and helping them with assignments and understanding material.
  • Supervising students during transitions and activities such as going to the office, bus, or cafeteria.
  • Communicating regularly with teachers and parents about student progress and needs.
  • Providing physical support and crisis intervention as needed for students with behavioral challenges.
  • Performing clerical duties like preparing materials and photocopies.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent, with at least two years of college coursework, an associate's degree, or passing a rigorous assessment.
    • Knowledge of instruction in reading, writing, and math or readiness skills.
    • Successful background check (employee responsible for approx. $50 fingerprinting fee).
    • Preferred experience in inclusion, behavioral support, or working with students with disabilities.
    • Ability to handle physical and emotional demands, including restraints and lifting.
    • Knowledge of classroom management and child development principles.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
    • Strong commitment to the mission and values of KIPP Texas.
