Reports To: Director of Auxiliary Programs
Travel Requirements: Group Level Field Trips

Position Summary

The Summer Camp Counselor supports Presbyterian School’s Summer Camp program (grades PK4 – 6th), including the implementation of camp programs and student supervision. The Summer Camp Counselor is encouraged to discuss with leadership opportunities for professional and social involvement with school and student activities.

Responsibilities
  • Plans, evaluates and revises course curricula, content, materials and methods of instruction for assigned camp, in an engaging classroom that encourages learning, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Supervises and instructs children in Summer Camp activities, including but not limited to participating and assisting Summer Camp Group Counselors with execution of camp programs, administering snacks, accompanying outdoor activities, playing games, assisting with arts and crafts, and other programmed activities.
  • Assists in set‑up and take‑down of equipment as needed to accommodate Panther Camp programs.
  • Collaborates with other Camp Group Leaders & Camp Counselors on cross‑divisional or cross‑curricular projects.
  • Provides supervision and instruction coverage for Summer Camp programs, including attending off‑campus field trips.
  • Assists with student behavior and reconciliation as required.
  • Provides first aid assistance to students and reports illnesses.
  • Performs various other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications
  • 6 months to a year professional experience, preferred.
  • High School degree or GED required.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • A passion for working with Early Childhood, Lower School and Middle School aged children and an understanding of the unique ways that they learn and develop.
  • Ability to make members of the community including students, families and program providers feel safe, secure and well‑cared‑for while never compromising high standards and meaningful accountability.
  • Possesses computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Gmail, Google Drive, Shared Docs and Sheets or Microsoft equivalent.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to interact with a professional demeanor with staff, general public, and school personnel.
  • Effective prioritization and time management skills.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines under pressure.
