Position: PK-3 Teacher (747)

Teachers in Baker Ripley Community Charter Schools support the whole‑child by focusing on students’ development through high‑quality innovative instruction, linking families to community programs, and providing resources to maximize student achievement.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Instructional Planning
    • Apply the Understanding by Design framework to design standards‑based, culturally relevant curriculum that maximizes student engagement and achievement.
    • Differentiates lesson plans for students based on their unique learning profiles to engage and challenge all ability levels.
    • Design formative and summative assessments aligned with long‑term objectives of the course.
    • Use assessment data to modify short and long‑term plans, targeting areas for improvement.
    • Design classroom procedures that maximize learning time.
    • Continuously reflect on teaching practices, management systems, and assessment tools to increase student achievement.
    • Submit up‑to‑date unit plans, lesson plans, and grades.
    • Adjust courses as necessary to maximize effectiveness after data collection, reflection, and learning cycles.
  • Instructional Delivery
    • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of curriculum and present academic content that reaches all learners.
    • Facilitate, manage, and coordinate student practice through meaningful learning experiences.
    • Check for academic understanding frequently and provide feedback to ensure student learning.
    • Communicate high expectations for character and behavior by teaching, practicing, and reinforcing rules.
    • Implement time‑saving practices and procedures to maximize learning time.
    • Evaluate and track student performance on assessments; adjust teaching accordingly.
    • Maintain a positive classroom culture with high expectations for all students.
  • Learning and Collaboration
    • Collaborate with content and grade‑level teachers to ensure alignment and consistency of student academic habits, traits, and mindsets.
    • Contribute significantly to the curriculum and instructional program of the school.
    • Work relentlessly to meet individual professional development goals to increase student achievement.
    • Seek and embrace feedback and constructive criticism for constant improvement.
    • Actively participate in professional development activities and trainings designed to enhance knowledge and skills.
    • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines and honoring the schedules and working styles of colleagues.
  • Academic and Cultural Support
    • Contact parents or guardians to praise excellent choices or address concerns promptly.
    • Maintain a growth mindset for students and adults, upholding all teacher commitments and school values.
    • Participate in and attend all professional duties, including meetings, conferences, ceremonies, and events.
    • Be widely knowledgeable of campus requirements, academic policies, and community support services available to students and families.
    • Create a welcoming environment that instills respect and kindness, ensuring students feel comfortable taking risks.
    • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, colleagues, and families based on trust and respect.
    • Check and respond to email at least twice a day and respond to phone voicemail within 24 hours.
Qualifications
  • Education – Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
  • Experience – At least one year of work‑related experience.
  • Certifications / Licenses
    • ESSA, Highly qualified valid Texas Teaching Certificate or acceptance to an approved Alternative Certification Program.
    • Pre‑K‑8 assignments; ESL Supplement required.

  • Language Requirements – Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
