The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the Cullen College of Engineering at the University of Houston invites applications for part-time, non-tenure track Adjunct Faculty positions to teach one or more undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.
Instruction is primarily in-person/virtual on the University’s main campus in Houston, Texas, and may include daytime or evening courses, depending on program needs.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide high‑quality instruction, develop and manage course materials, assess student performance, and contribute to the department’s mission of academic excellence and innovation in engineering education.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned undergraduate or graduate courses in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.
- Prepare and deliver course materials, including lectures, assignments, and exams.
- Assess and grade student performance in alignment with departmental and university standards.
- Maintain regular office hours to assist and mentor students.
- Collaborate with course coordinators and department faculty to ensure instructional consistency and program quality.
- A PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Biomolecular Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability or potential for effective teaching at the college or university level.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in the chemical process industries.
This is a part-time, non-tenure track position. Teaching assignments and compensation are determined based on departmental needs and qualifications. The position may be renewed on a semester‑by‑semester basis, contingent upon performance, enrollment, and funding. Official transcripts are required for a faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidates. All positions at the University of Houston‑System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.
Individuals conducting research in critical infrastructure areas (i.e., communication infrastructure systems, cybersecurity systems, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment systems, and/or water treatment facilities) are subject to regular review to ensure the security and integrity of the research is maintained.
