Professor of Practice – Anthropology
The Department of Comparative Cultural Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Houston invites applications for a full‑time, non‑tenure track position to begin Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Biological Anthropology, Introduction to Archaeology, and courses in their disciplinary specialty. Depending on enrollment and course needs, a 3:4 course load per semester will be expected.
Essential qualifications include a Ph.D. at the time of hire, a four‑field background, and the ability to teach online courses using CANVAS. The candidate will be based on the main campus but is expected to offer courses (both face‑to‑face and online) at the main or Katy campuses.
Responsibilities- Teach Intro to Biological Anthropology and Intro to Archaeology courses.
- Teach additional courses in the specialized discipline.
- Maintain a teaching appointment with a 3:4 course load per semester.
- Deliver courses both online (CANVAS) and face‑to‑face.
- Ph.D. in a relevant field at the time of hire.
- Four‑field academic background.
- Experience teaching online using CANVAS.
- Ability to develop and teach courses for undergraduate students.
