Job Description

Purpose and Scope: The teaching faculty provide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives, contributing to the educational environment of the college and the community. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses within the curriculum to facilitate student learning.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teach Economics courses at various times and locations
  • Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material
  • Submit required college reports and forms promptly
  • Utilize a course syllabus following institutional guidelines
  • Meet with and advise students before or after class by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
  • Evaluate student progress and inform students timely
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
  • Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Mastery of course content
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with an emphasis on collaboration and teamwork
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with diverse people
  • Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies including collaborative learning and distance learning
  • Commitment to academic excellence and a dynamic climate for lifelong learning
  • Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, civic engagement, learning communities, and effective use of technology
  • Strategic engagement of students in their learning
Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary; occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving an automobile may be required. No special physical demands are necessary.

Work Schedule and Conditions
  • Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment in a Microsoft Windows environment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed
  • Work in climate‑controlled classroom/lab environments with minimal safety hazards
  • Hours vary with class schedules; instructors must meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside instruction
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Economics or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Economics
Salary

$55.44 per contact hour.
