Overview

We are currently seeking an Instructor, Nuclear Medicine Technology, who will advance the institution’s tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service. The opportunity includes teaching nuclear medicine technology, designing curricula, and supporting student career development.

SUMMARY:

Provide the expertise and knowledge that support the college curriculum and programs. Establish courses following accepted higher education standards, teach students using a variety of effective methodologies and provide engagement and support activities that encourage student learning. The role encompasses teaching and learning, academic advising, professional development and institutional and community service.

The incumbent will teach a maximum load of (See Faculty Workload Guidelines) contact hours each semester in area(s) of competency and participate as a part-time instructor in the activities of the department, division and college.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teaching:
    Demonstrate skill and/or knowledge in teaching discipline; improve instruction through innovative methodologies and delivery methods; develop and use syllabi for each course or laboratory; plan, develop, and use varied teaching methods and materials; evaluate students and provide progress feedback; keep accurate records; review textbooks and materials; teach courses at various times/locations; use equipment responsibly and assist with maintenance of instructional laboratories;

    demonstrate competence with technology and new instructional methodologies.
  • Academic Advising:
    Maintain professional relationships with students and colleagues; provide access to students; give advice on instructional or program-specific issues; present on academic fields, transfer opportunities, co-ops, work-study, and related services; participate in advising activities as needed.
  • Professional Development:
    Establish annual objectives for professional growth; keep pace with developments in the discipline; apply technologies that support student learning; participate in evaluation processes.
  • Institutional and Community Service:
    Participate in institutional events and committees; adhere to HCCS policies; engage in Center of Excellence activities, community programs, and accreditation-relevant activities; contribute to departmental objectives and budget planning; review and revise curricula to meet professional standards and higher education requirements; assist with articulation of courses and programs with other institutions.
Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
  • Graduate of a program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board and/or registered in nuclear medicine technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services or Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist.

Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year of college level teaching experience preferred. Three (3) or more years in the field of nuclear medicine technology required.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

  • Clinical competency in all areas of nuclear medicine; ability to work in a diverse environment; willingness to teach day or evening classes at multiple sites; knowledge of computer usage and software; excellent interpersonal skills; strong organizational and planning abilities; sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds; ability to inspire and motivate students; self-discipline and ability to manage others.
