Position: Instructor, CISCO- CE (CCNA) - Adjunct Pool

Opportunity

Instructor, CISCO– CE (CCNA) – Adjunct Pool – Houston, Texas, System Wide. Systems‑wide adjunct position with maximum load of contact hours each semester as per Faculty Guidelines.

Summary

Provide expertise that supports college curriculum. Establish courses following higher education standards. Teach students using effective methodologies and provide engagement activities. The role encompasses teaching, learning, academic advising, professional development, and institutional service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teaching
    • Make continuous efforts to improve instruction quality.
    • Develop and use a syllabus for each course.
    • Plan and deliver varied teaching methods.
    • Evaluate students and report progress.
    • Keep accurate records.
    • Review textbooks and materials.
    • Teach courses at various times and locations.
    • Use equipment responsibly and assist with lab maintenance.
    • Demonstrate competence with classroom technology.
  • Academic Advising
    • Maintain professional relationships.
    • Provide office hours and electronic communication.
    • Give presentations on program details.
    • Collaborate with CE Director on advising activities.
  • Professional Development
    • Establish professional growth objectives.
    • Keep pace with discipline developments.
    • Learn and apply new technologies.
    • Participate in evaluation processes.
  • Institutional and Community Service
    • Participate in scheduled institutional events.
    • Attend committee meetings.
    • Engage in department, college, system meetings.
    • Adhere to all policies.
    • Participate in student and community activities.
    • Support accreditation requirements.
    • Assist planning and budgeting.
    • Revise curricula for compliance.
    • Assist articulation with secondary and post‑secondary institutions.
  • Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the following requirements.

    Education

    High school diploma or GED equivalent required. AAS or Bachelor’s Degree preferred. A photocopy of transcript showing degree conferred must accompany application.

    Certifications
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
    Experience
    • One year experience in computer science or related technology field.
    • One year teaching experience in a higher education institution preferred.
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Willing and able to teach day or evening classes at various sites.
  • Knowledge and skill in computer usage and software.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • Sensitivity to students with diverse backgrounds and disabilities.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Self-disciplined and able to effectively manage others.
