Assistant Professor, Anatomy and Physiology
Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) School of Medicine, Temple campus, invites applications for a full‑time Assistant Professor position within the Anatomy Education Core. The faculty member will teach human gross anatomy, physiology, embryology, histology, and neuroanatomy across lecture, laboratory, and problem‑based learning formats for undergraduate medical students. Occasional travel to the Houston campus is required. The role offers 50% time devoted to undergraduate instruction, 45% to integrated physiology teaching, and 5% to graduate medical education at Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH).
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver the integrated medical physiology curriculum using active‑learning and flipped‑classroom methodologies.
- Design, prepare, and administer assessments (exams, quizzes, clinical cases) for both anatomy and physiology courses.
- Teach and supervise human gross anatomy cadaver dissection labs, histology and neuroanatomy labs, and embryology and physiology lectures/small‑group discussions.
- Contribute to curriculum development, including problem‑based learning sessions and physiology thread design, at both the Temple and Houston campuses.
- Assist in teaching GME cadaver dissection labs and gross anatomy to BSWH learners.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement and scholarly activities, such as educational research and publication, for academic promotion.
- Earned terminal degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent).
- Experience teaching human gross anatomy, cadaveric or prosection labs, and integrated physiology to medical or health‑professional students.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting.
- At least three years of teaching anatomy and physiology in a North American medical school.
- Experience preparing human cadaver prosection samples and involvement in a willed‑body program.
- Involvement in curriculum design or reformation, case‑based education, and active‑learning modalities.
- Familiarity with online testing tools (e.g., Exam Soft) and USMLE‑style exam question development.
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated research productivity in educational topics.
