Position: Assistant Professor, Clinical Faculty Appointment (CFA) - Lymphoma-Myeloma

Overview

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma, is recruiting for a clinical research faculty member with sub-specialty of Multiple Myeloma. Physicians who have extensive research experience in clinical investigation and outcomes research with particular focus in plasma cell dyscrasias such as Amyloidosis, Waldenstrom's, MGUS, with emphasis on stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies in high-risk Multiple Myeloma, are strongly encouraged to apply.

Faculty rank and space will be provided consistent with experience. The successful candidate will have actively engaged in research in cancer biology, with potential relevance to biology of hematologic malignancies and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the department. The candidate will have protected time to lead and develop programs, translational clinical research and scholarly activities in keeping within the goals of the department.

The selected candidate will seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support translational and clinical research, assist with mentoring young faculty, fellows, and other trainees, and contribute to the overall mission of the department. There are multiple opportunities for collaboration with other clinicians, scientists and physician-scientists within the institution.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop translational and clinical research programs in keeping with the department goals.
  • Seek and secure appropriate funding mechanisms to support translational and clinical research.
  • Mentor and supervise young faculty, fellows, and other trainees.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, scientists and physician-scientists within the institution.
  • Contribute to the scholarly activity and educational environment of the department.
Qualifications
  • The successful candidate will have an M.D., or M.D. and Ph.D. degrees; those holding an M.D. should have demonstrated the ability to practice oncology medicine. Candidates with an M.D. and ABMS board eligibility/certification in their primary specialty and board eligible for sub-specialty certification and license eligibility in the State of Texas.
  • At least 5 years of post-degree experience with a combination of time as a clinician, clinical scientist or GME trainee (excluding specialties with shorter residencies or fellowships).
  • Evidence of commitment to scholarly activity and proof of scientific accomplishments.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills evidenced by peer‑reviewed publications, presentations at professional meetings, and demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding for translational research.
Salary and Application Details
