E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is a seeking a general and critical care board-certified, or eligible, to join the surgical critical care program at the Michael
E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center (MEDVAMC).
Nestled in the heart of the world's largest medical center, our 250-faculty member department works at iconic institutions, including Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, Texas Heart Institute, Texas Children's Hospital, Ben Taub General Hospital, and the MEDVAMC.
The BCM Division of Trauma, Bariatric, and Acute Care Surgery team performs trauma, surgical critical care, and emergency general surgery for critically ill patient in MEDVAMC’s surgical intensive care unit and works in partnership with BCM affiliated hospitals, Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center and Ben Taub Hospital. The program is also supported by an on-site surgical health services research group with available resources for the successfully recruited candidate to further grow and develop a nationally prominent clinical and research program.
Ideal candidates will have an established track record of clinical excellence in surgery with incorporation of innovative surgical techniques. Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching general surgery residents and advanced fellows and leading clinical and translational research efforts. American Board of Surgery board certification or board eligibility is a requirement, and the candidate must qualify for a full and unrestricted Texas medical license.
