Assistant Professor, Clinical Faculty Appointment (CFA)
The Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology invites applicants for a full-time faculty position. Experience in medical oncology and a career interest in genitourinary cancers is required. This position will report to the chair of the Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology.
It is anticipated that candidates will actively engage in clinical, translational or laboratory research and scholarly activities. Candidates should demonstrate potential for innovative research that is competitive for peer‑reviewed funding, publication of high‑impact original findings, and a collaborative mindset. The role requires the ability to synthesize information, formulate creative approaches for investigative inquiry pertaining to genitourinary medical oncology, and function in a team environment to provide research‑driven patient care.
Responsibilities- Provide a balanced and integrated educational program in Genitourinary Medical Oncology for medical fellows and residents who rotate through the department; attend and participate in division/department teaching and continuing education.
- Represent the department in local, regional, state, and national matters pertaining to the field of Genitourinary Medicine.
- Practice clinical medicine in an exemplary manner, in accordance with the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and the American College of Physicians, while balancing academic activities. Perform complete and thorough history and physical examinations and invasive procedures as dictated by the physician’s subspecialty.
- Develop and maintain a clinical consultative practice for patients referred to MD Anderson. Provide physician staffing for the Genitourinary Medical Oncology Center, the Genitourinary Medical Oncology Inpatient Service, and Houston Area Locations (HALs).
- Keep abreast of current approaches in the management of patients through attendance at continuing education conferences; serve as a role model for faculty, fellows, residents, and students and provide peer review for assessing the clinical practice of faculty within the department.
Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D., be board‑certified or board‑eligible, and be eligible for medical licensure in Texas.
