OVERVIEW
Hospitalist (Nocturnist) – Northeast Houston, TX
Memorial Hermann Medical Group, a large physician‑employed network, seeks a Board Eligible/Board Certified Hospitalist (Nocturnist) for the Northeast Hospital.
- Internal Medicine / Family Medicine
- 7 on 7 off schedule
- EMR training provided for EPIC
- No procedures required
- Closed ICU
- Relocation & Sign‑on Bonus Offered
- Attend and participate in hospital multidisciplinary rounds on all patients where the hospitalist service is primary, and when appropriate or requested in a co‑management or consultative role.
- Cover Code Blue and Rapid Responses per campus code committee recommendations.
- Provide admission services for the Emergency Department, incoming transfer patients, and direct or emergent admissions per hospital on‑call schedule and patient assignment guidelines.
- Provide co‑management services for subspecialty services within the scope of privileges for the hospitalist provider.
- Provide consultative services for members of the Medical Staff within scope of privileges.
- Accept transfers of care from other clinical service lines if the patient is deemed appropriate and there is a physician‑to‑physician hand‑off communication.
- Provide transfer center call for incoming non‑critical care medical patients per on‑call schedule.
- Provide timely evaluation of admitted patients per Medical Executive Committee bylaws.
- Abide by hospital tenants, guidelines, and bylaws.
- Provide physician‑to‑physician sign‑out for patients transitioning to post‑acute facilities.
- Provide internal sign‑out at transitions of care consistent with standards of care.
- Provide 72‑hour narcotic prescriptions for patients transitioning to skilled nursing facilities when appropriate.
- Participate in nursing and staff education when solicited by CNO, CMO, or COO.
- Respond to clinical queries in a timely fashion.
- Document History and Physicals within 12 hours.
- Document Discharge Summaries within 48 hours of discharge order.
- Maintain current understanding of regulatory environment related to status patients per national guidelines.
- Provide post‑discharge coverage for home health orders up to 2 weeks or until primary care provider seen.
- Encourage in‑network utilization of resources for continuity of care unless specified otherwise.
- Respond promptly to pages from nursing staff unless patient safety or experience is impacted.
- Provide additional coverage during emergencies or disasters per campus protocol.
- Participate in continuing education to maintain or enhance knowledge and skills.
- Maintain ACLS certification.
- Direct patient care via consult orders.
- Communicate with attending physician, nurse, family, and other team members to obtain appropriate patient care plan.
- Effectively communicate with treatment team in a timely and professional manner to provide quality care.
- Comply with best practices and other care directives.
- Follow Performance Improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Memorial Hermann Physicians, Risk Managers, and Case Managers to resolve clinical, administrative, or technical problems.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to MH compliance privacy policies.
- Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all MH policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
- Promote individual professional growth by meeting mandatory/continuing education requirements and skill competency; serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
- Demonstrate commitment to compassionate, personalized experiences; model Memorial Hermann’s service standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Currently licensed to practice in Texas.
- ACLS certification.
- Experience in a hospitalist/nocturnist setting preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work a 7 on 7 off schedule and cover code blue/rapid response calls.
