Summary
The Department of Pediatrics is seeking an Assistant Professor (Hospitalist on Pediatric Hematology-Oncology).
Responsibilities- Scope of practice includes accepting applicants who are fellowship trained in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology or trained in General Pediatric/Internal Medicine-Pediatric residency. No hematology-oncology specific training is required for residency-trained applicants; training will be provided after hiring.
- Residency-trained applicants do not need Hospital Medicine fellowship training and may be hired directly out of residency.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to manage inpatient care of Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant patients. Attend to patients medical needs on admitted inpatients and assist with new admissions.
- Based on training, oversee junior personnel including fellows, residents, and advanced practice practitioners, and participate in education.
- Approximately 8 weeks of in-house night coverage per year.
- Fellowship-trained physicians:
- Attending on the inpatient (daytime) service teams within the faculty attending rotation.
- Assigned days performing bone marrow aspirate/biopsies and lumbar punctures as part of the Procedure Team.
- Other clinical duties as needed based on service requirements and/or individual interest.
- Efforts will be made to align clinical duties with the candidate s clinical and/or research interests.
- Residency-trained physicians:
- Daytime assignments on Hematology-Oncology or Bone Marrow Transplant teams in frontline practitioner roles.
- Other daytime possibilities include time on the Procedure Team or working in the Urgent Care clinic (training provided for both).
- Time is built into the schedule to support scholarly activity or personal projects.
- MD or equivalent degree
- Board certified or board eligible for either Pediatric Hematology-Oncology or General Pediatric/Internal Medicine-Pediatrics
- Pediatric/Internal Medicine-Pediatric boards
- Prior to employment start date, must obtain Texas Medical License and Drug Enforcement registration
- Texas Medical Board–administration registration
