Job Summary

To provide medical expertise and oversight of care that is being provided through the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. The physician is expected to exercise the highest level of expertise in order to optimize quality of care.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Medicine

Licenses/Certifications:

• Current state medical license
• Current Federal Drug Enforcement Agency license
• Board certified or Board eligible
• Basic Cardiac Life Certification or Advanced Cardiac Life Certification
• Staff privileges at all the hospitals for which coverage is being provided

Principal Accountabilities

• Directs patient care throughout the healthcare system via Consult Orders.
• Provides consultation services in collaboration with attending or primary care providers.
• Communicates effectively with the treatment team, including attending physicians, nurses, families, and other team members, to develop appropriate patient care plans.
• Ensures timely and professional communication to provide quality psychiatric care across the healthcare system.
• Adheres to best practices and care directives, and participates in Performance Improvement initiatives.
• Collaborates with Memorial Hermann Physicians, Risk Managers, and Case Managers to resolve clinical, administrative, or technical issues.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with MH privacy policies.
• Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to all policies, procedures, and standards, within budgetary constraints including time, supplies, productivity, and quality.
• Supports professional growth through mandatory/continuing education and skills development; acts as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
