About Us
Commission-Based | Houston, TX | Flexible Schedule
We are a boutique, family-owned landscape design and build company based in Houston, Texas. For nearly a decade, we have been transforming residential outdoor spaces across the Houston area, bringing together thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and personal service. We are proud of the relationships we build with our clients and the spaces we create together, and that culture extends to everyone we work with.
TheOpportunity
We are looking for a talented Landscape Designer or Landscape Architect to partner with us on a per-project basis. This is a commission-based, freelance role, not a full-time position. We will engage our design partner on one to two projects per month, with the opportunity for more for the right person who consistently delivers great work. Compensation is competitive and paid on a per-project commission structure.
The role is straightforward: you will meet with clients in person, develop the design, and hand it off to our team. From there, our project managers take over and see the installation through to completion, so your involvement is focused entirely on what you do best; the design. No managing crews, no job site headaches. This is ideal for a design professional who wants meaningful, well-compensated creative work without the demands of a traditional full-time role.
WhatYou Will Do
- Meet with residential clients in person to understand their vision, needs, and budget.
- Develop creative, site-appropriate landscape design plans.
- Produce clear design drawings, plant palettes, and material specifications.
- Hand off completed designs to our project management team, who handle all installation.
- Revise designs as needed based on client feedback prior to handoff.
- Degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture, or related field
- Proficiency in design software
- Strong knowledge of Houston-area climate, soils, and plant material
- Extensive knowledge of native and adaptive plants for the Gulf Coast / Southeast Texas region, including their application in sustainable and low-maintenance designs
- Excellent client communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage your own schedule and deliver on project timelines
- Texas RLA license a plus, but not required
- Competitive commission per completed project
- Rate commensurate with experience and project scope
- Paid upon project milestone completion
