gin design group is an award-winning hospitality design firm dedicated to creating immersive and inspiring spaces that elevate guest experiences. We are seeking a talented Project Designer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the creation of world-class hospitality environments.

Job Summary:

As a gin design group Project Designer, you will play a key role in conceptualizing, designing, and executing innovative hospitality interiors. You will collaborate with architects, project managers, collaborative vendors, artisans and our clients to develop compelling design solutions that align with brand identity and project objectives. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, and strong project management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • Assist with site evaluations/client meetings as needed to offer unique perspectives and notes.
  • Assist in the development of work plans for proposals as needed.
  • Raise flags when you foresee scope creep, taking initiative to problem-solve.
  • Respond to emails as needed from vendors and clients, answering questions and triaging questions to appropriate team members as necessary.
  • Assist with cost estimation and ensure designs are aligned with budget constraints.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and contractors, to integrate design solutions.
  • Manage design timelines and ensure deadlines are met throughout the project lifecycle.
DESIGN PROCESS
  • Contribute to our culture of equality, creativity and innovation; we require thinking outside the box with the objective of elevating the level of design aesthetic and design leadership for the studio.
  • Design unique and creative interior environments,
  • utilizing floor plans, elevations, 3D views and material boards
  • beginning with programming and schematic design through construction document phase, and
  • which are conforming to our design standards, are code compliant, reflect the client goals and follow the project budget and schedule.
  • Design floor plans, elevations, and 3D views and material boards for both in-house reviews and client presentations.
  • Develop documents/designs for the entirety of the assigned project, from programming and schematic design to the construction document phase.
  • Make/review furniture selections, write specification documents, and budgets along with furniture designer/junior designers.
  • Prepare and present designs directly to clients.
  • Mentor junior designers/interns, providing feedback on design/ operations, function of space and design direction––challenging design decisions and poke holes when needed to achieve the best work and ensure standards meet firm expectations.
  • Lead design charrettes, and provide insight and resources to keep projects moving forward.
  • Keep project files organized and correctly labeled.
  • Attend vendor presentations and trade shows and update the internal database with any new and interesting leads.
  • Advocate for process improvements and design innovation to enhance overall team efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 2+ years Sketchup experience
  • 2+ years Revit experience
  • 3+ years of Hospitality Design experience
  • Strong understanding of hospitality design principles, guest experience, and brand storytelling.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of building codes, ADA compliance, and sustainability best practices is a plus.
