We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Senior Planner to join our team of professionals. This position offers great opportunities for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of work assignments. You’ll be a member of our highly respected team of professionals with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:Lead and/or team with other staff on the preparation and production of comprehensive plans, plan elements, studies, assessments, similar planning documents, and zoning ordinances, including public outreach, research, drafting, illustrating, mapping, and document layout and formatting.
Serve as project manager for public sector clients providing on call planning/zoning assistance and attending meetings as needed (which will include some evenings), as well as conducting project work (zoning ordinances, comprehensive plans, etc.) for those client communities.
Organize, prepare for, and attend public outreach events and public meetings.
Develop teaming opportunities with other professional service firms.
SKILLS:Creative ability in both community design and policy development.
Detailed understanding of relationship between comprehensive planning and implementation strategies and tools.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to teach and coach younger planning staff to produce high-quality work in a collaborative environment.
Successful RFP response and proposal preparation track record.
Experience with traditional and innovative public outreach practices, both in person and on-line.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative suite, plus GIS; familiarity with Sketch‑Up is desirable.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in planning or related field and AICP certification are preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience; private consulting experience is desirable, with a blend of public and private preferred.
