We are working with our client who is a multi-disciplined architecture and design firm that partners with clients across industries to plan, design, and deliver commercial buildings, branded environments, and interior spaces—with deep experience in retail automotive facilities, broader commercial and mixed‑use architecture, turnkey interior design, and brand‑focused spatial solutions from concept through completion. We are partnering with them to find a new Director of Design-Multifamily!

This position leads the creative vision, design excellence, and technical execution of all multifamily residential projects. This role develops and enforces quality and production standards across the portfolio, ensuring projects meet both client objectives and firm‑wide standards of excellence. The Director oversees the integration of architectural, interior, and urban design principles to deliver housing environments that are functional, sustainable, and inspiring.

This individual must possess advanced design leadership capabilities, deep expertise in multifamily housing typologies, and the managerial skills to guide project teams toward successful delivery. They will represent the firm to clients, communities, and partners, while fostering innovation, mentorship, and operational excellence across the design department.

• Leads design vision and oversees concept through construction documentation for multi‑family housing projects.
• Directs design presentations and project development, ensuring alignment with client goals, budget, and schedule.
• Establishes and maintains firm‑wide multi‑family design standards, focusing on innovation, placemaking, and resident experience.
• Provides creative guidance to ensure projects achieve design excellence and sustainability goals.
• Administers and supervises the design department with a focus on multi‑family expertise.
• Approves and monitors budgets, staffing, and schedules across projects.
• Ensures adherence to production and quality standards for all contract documents.
• Uses concise communication to manage and align diverse project teams.
• Acts as a key design liaison with developers, city officials, and community stakeholders.
• Supports business development through client engagement, presentations, and expanding the firm’s portfolio.
• Builds strong relationships to advance both project success and long‑term partnerships.
• Mentors design staff at all levels, cultivating talent and fostering a culture of creativity and accountability.
• Promotes knowledge sharing in housing design, construction methods, and regulatory compliance.
• Encourages collaboration across disciplines to strengthen integrated project delivery.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• 15+ years of experience with emphasis on multi‑family project design
• Licensed Architect Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in architecture (Master’s preferred)
• Must possess thorough knowledge of architecture practices with expertise in mid‑rise, high‑rise and mixed‑use residential design, building materials, construction methods, integration of engineering principles, and building cost/codes.
• Demonstrated leadership ability
• Strong communication, presentation, and client‑relation skills
• Proficiency in Revit, Enscape, Illustrator, Adobe Suite and other industry‑standard design tools
