We’re a small, boutique residential interior design firm looking for a reliable, organized, and highly independent Interior Design Assistant to support the Owner/Principal Designer. This is a supportive role — not a lead designer position — but it does require someone who is confident working on their own and keeping things moving without a lot of hand holding.
What This Role Is (and Isn’t)- Is: a support role working directly with the Owner/Principal on residential projects
- Is: best suited for a self‑starter who takes initiative and follows through
- Is: a mix of creative, technical, and organizational work
- Isn’t: a role with constant supervision or step‑by‑step direction
- Isn’t: a lead designer or project manager position
The Owner travels on occasion, which means there will be times when you are the only person in the studio. You should be comfortable working independently, managing day‑to‑day tasks, and problem‑solving on your own while keeping projects organized and on track.
What You’ll Be Doing- Directly assisting the Owner/Principal Designer with residential design projects
- Drafting and revising drawings in CAD and Sketch Up
- Creating mood boards, presentations, and visuals in Photoshop, Canva, etc.
- Sourcing furniture, lighting, textiles, and materials
- Keeping project files, specs, and schedules organized
- Communicating with vendors and showrooms as needed
- Handling studio and project tasks independently when the Owner is traveling
- Assisting with installations and on‑site support when needed
- Other general office duties, as needed
- Bachelor’s degree (4-year college degree) in Interior Design or a related field
- Experience working in residential interior design (boutique or small firm experience preferred)
- Strong skills inCAD, Sketch Up, and Photoshop
- Someone whodoes not need constant direction and can manage their own workload
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
- Comfortable being trusted with responsibility and ownership of tasks
- Clear communicator with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude
- You like working in a small studio environment
- You’re comfortable working independently and being accountable for your work
- You want hands‑on experience across all phases of residential design
- You value trust, flexibility, collaboration, and a calm, focused studio culture
