Position: 2026 Summer Camp Music and Drama Counselor

Description

The Summer Camp Music and Drama Counselor is responsible for leading music and drama activities and projects for children ages 6-13. The counselor will be responsible for planning and implementing activities that are both fun and educational, and that is aligned with the camp's curriculum and theme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and lead music and drama activities that are age-appropriate for the entire nine-week sessions
  • Activities can be but are not limited to, skits, music videos, TV segments, etc.
  • An in-depth curriculum expectations will be covered during the interview
  • Prepare and set up music and drama materials before each activity
  • Supervise and assist children during music and drama activities
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times
  • Encourage creativity and self-expression in the children through music and drama
  • Clean and maintain the music and drama area
  • Must possess exceptional collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with lead and support counselors
  • Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance
  • Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Will provide support on designated Thursday field trip days.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalent certification
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to work at least until early August 2025
  • Experience working with children, particularly in music and drama
  • Strong knowledge and skills in music and drama techniques and methodologies
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Passion for working with children and encouraging creativity through music and drama
  • Must be able to pass a background check
Physical Demands
  • This job may require standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods of time
  • This job may require lifting or moving music and drama materials
