The Project Engineer provides technical support and assistance to the project team to ensure the efficient and successful completion of construction projects. This role involves collaborating with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure that all aspects of the project are executed according to plans, specifications, and quality standards. The Project Engineer plays a key role in managing project documentation, procurement, and communication.
Primary
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support the project management team in overseeing construction projects by providing technical expertise and assistance.
- Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and contracts to ensure accurate implementation of design and scope.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure that work is performed according to the project’s scope and specifications.
- Assist in preparing project submittals, including materials, equipment, and shop drawings.
- Help manage project documentation, including RFIs, change orders, daily reports, and project schedules.
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and schedules to ensure that the project stays on track and within budget.
- Conduct site visits to ensure that construction activities are progressing according to plans and quality standards, and that safety regulations are followed.
- Assist with the procurement of materials, equipment, and services, ensuring timely deliveries and cost efficiency.
- Track and report project progress, identifying potential issues and working with the team to resolve them.
- Ensure all project quality control procedures are being followed and all deliverables meet the required standards.
- Assist with project closeout, ensuring that all necessary documentation and certifications are completed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred)
- 2-4 years of experience in construction engineering or project management (experience in heavy civil or commercial construction is a plus)
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards
- Proficiency in construction management software (HCSS) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and effectively manage project details
