Summary
The Civil Crew Foreman provides supervisory support to a ground crew for all aspects of construction. This could include but is not limited to pouring foundations, installing fencing, assisting with grounding, and maintaining the area surrounding a site and/or towers.
This is a safety-sensitive position.
Key Responsibilities- Safety First – Put safety first and production second. Always.
- On-site supervision of all related construction activities defined in the scope of work, both day and night.
- Supervise and lead team members, setting clear expectations and goals. Coach, mentor, and develop team members to enhance their skills and performance.
- Maintain the project timeline as stated by the Construction Manager/Project Manager.
- Complete daily site field report.
- Complete daily site Job Safety Analysis.
- Provide site scope input.
- Collect all on-site closeout documentation and submit it to the closeout manager per the deliverable timelines.
- Review all on-site closeout documentation for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Participate in continuous training offered by CMS, including weekly safety calls.
- Responsible for site crew quality, timeliness, accuracy, and schedule.
- Do grounding, terminations, fastening, proper bolting, and antioxidant use, support of leads, cad welding as required, etc.
- Assist on the overall job, including groundwork, all tasks required to build and install a site per customer specs, maintaining a safe work environment, daily use and completion of JSA forms, assisting with overall crew work, maintenance of vehicles and equipment, etc.
- Assist in the coordination, preparation, and cleaning of job sites.
- If required, schedule and attend permit inspections with the local municipality.
- Must be willing to continue to work towards training and certifications for related work.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This job operates in a field environment. Must be in good physical condition with the ability to routinely bend, squat, climb, kneel, push, pull, lift 50lbs or more, lift in awkward positions, stand, and twist for extended periods.
- Must be willing to travel out of market/state for up to several months at a time (90%).
- May be required to work long and unpredictable hours.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes DOT physical, background check, and drug/alcohol testing and participate in the random testing program.
- Must be willing to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive company vehicles. A commercial driver's license (CDL) is a plus.
Technical
Skills:
- Must be able to work in a team environment and be a valued member of the crew and the company.
- Must be able to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.
- Must be able to operate different types of equipment such as backhoe, forklift, electrical and hand tools.
- Successful completion of industrial first aid and rescue training.
- Must have excavator experience.
Soft Skills :
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and by email with team members and clients.
- Must be able to lead a crew and project a positive attitude toward others in all work-related settings.
- Must be self-motivated with the desire to learn new things and project a positive attitude toward others in all work-related settings.
- Must have leadership and coaching skills and be competent in conflict and crisis management.
- Must be able to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions.
- Must be able to work on a team and independently as required.
- Supervise 2 to 4 crew members.
- This is a full-time position.
- Workdays and hours are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with some overtime requirements.
- Extensive travel is required for this position. Usually between 80 to 100% of the time.
Required:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Related trade school education preferred.
