The inspector is responsible for ensuring that civil construction projects are built in accordance with approved plans, specifications, permits, and applicable codes and standards. This role involves daily field inspections, coordination with contractors and engineers, documentation of construction activities, and verification of quantities and quality of work.

- Inspect civil construction activities including roadways, utilities, drainage, grading, paving, water plants, lift stations and wastewater treatment plants.
- Verify construction complies with approved plans, specifications, contracts, and local/state regulations.
- Perform field observations for earthwork, trenching, backfill, compaction, concrete placement, and asphalt paving.
- Coordinate and witness required testing (soil compaction, concrete, asphalt, pressure testing, etc.).
- Identify deficiencies or non-conforming work and document corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed daily inspection reports, photographs, and project records.
- Verify material quantities and assist with pay applications and change order support.
- Communicate regularly with contractors, project managers, engineers, and owners.
- Attend pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and site walkthroughs.
- Confirm safety and erosion control measures are properly implemented.
- Assist with the preparation of as-built/record drawings as required.
- High school diploma or GED (Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field preferred)
- Minimum 2–5 years of civil construction inspection experience
- Working knowledge of civil plans, specifications, and construction methods
- Familiarity with local and state construction standards and codes
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings - Strong documentation and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb on active construction sites
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
- Primarily field-based on active construction sites
- Occasional office work for reporting and documentation
