Job Overview

CONCRETE PAVE MACHINE OPERATOR at Granite Construction. Operates paving machine to spread and smooth freshly poured concrete or asphalt surfaces. On‑job training provided.

• Operate asphalt or concrete paver.
• Operate other paving related equipment such as rollers, screed, etc.
• Safely perform a number of construction paving duties.
• Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to the supervisor.
• Move levers, depress pedals, turn hand wheels, and push throttle to control and guide machine.

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience.

• Proper certification required.

• Appropriate training and experience required.

• Read engineering drawing.
• Practice good safety habits.
• Work in dusty or dirty surroundings.
• Follow instructions and meet set standards.
• Judge distances and slopes accurately.
• Make decisions based on verifiable standards.

• Stoop, bend, and crouch.
• Use hands, arms, and legs fully.
• See well (either naturally or with correction).
• Lift up to 50 pounds; frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
