Wellness Floor Attendant – Houston Texans YMCA
Join YMCA of Greater Houston as a Wellness Floor Attendant – Houston Texans YMCA and provide excellent service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes wellness, engagement, and healthy living in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Promote the YMCA five core values and character development model in all program activities.
- Assist members on the wellness floor and uphold safety standards.
- Monitor the wellness floor to ensure proper and safe use of equipment; respond to and report accidents and incidents.
- Monitor the condition of exercise equipment and report necessary repairs.
- Keep the exercise equipment neat and orderly, including cleaning equipment.
- Respond to member questions or concerns and build effective relationships with members.
- Help members connect with each other and promote Personal Training and other programs.
- Maintain working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergency situations.
- Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
- Meet timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance (e.g., Kronos Workforce Ready time‑sheet review).
- Attend mandatory training and meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- At least 20 years of age.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training upon hire.
- Previous related work experience preferred.
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
- Language skills: ability to read, interpret, and write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups and in one‑on‑one situations.
- Mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Reasoning ability: apply common sense, judgment; maintain confidentiality; ensure children’s safety and comply with YMCA and state standards.
The employee is required to stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hands to handle objects; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; reach; move or lift up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds of furniture, supplies, equipment, or children. Adequate vision and hearing are required to monitor the environment and children safely.
Work EnvironmentThe employee works outdoors in varying weather conditions; the environment is nonsmoking, drug‑ and alcohol‑free; noise is moderate to occasionally loud. Exposure to fumes, chemicals, extreme heat, blood, and bodily excretions may occur.
