Role DescriptionThis is a full-time hybrid position based in Houston, TX, for a Senior Buyer (1 day remote). The Senior Buyer will manage procurement and sourcing activities, including identifying suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring cost-effective and timely procurement of materials. Duties include developing supplier relationships, evaluating vendor performance, and maintaining inventory levels to meet organizational goals. The role also entails monitoring market trends, analyzing cost structures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize supply chain processes.
Responsibilities- Issue purchase orders (POs) accurately, on time, and in alignment with approved requisitions, supplier terms, and organizational policies.
- Monitor open POs daily to ensure acknowledgment, accurate delivery dates, and proper fulfillment.
- Directly manage new and existing regional supplier relationships and leverage internal stakeholder/category relationships to maximize global supplier partnerships.
- Manage strategic purchasing initiatives and develop reporting materials (power point presentations, business cases, etc.)
- Build supplier market intelligence and ensure that supply-base data is available to support business decisions.
- Implement and manage all aspects of the supplier development, contracting and buy-to-pay processes, including proper risk management.
- Ensures compliance with SCM and enterprise governance requirements.
- Be a point of escalation and resolution for scope-related supplier issues.
- Candidate must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with changing priorities and deadlines.
- Proven experience in sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiation.
- Proficiency in procurement software and supply chain management tools.
- Flexibility in working different time zone hours.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess market trends and cost data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and negotiate with vendors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 4-6 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in the energy, manufacturing, or similar industries is a plus.
- Hands‑on experience with Oracle Fusion (Oracle Cloud ERP) procurement modules is a strong asset.
