Position

Commodity Buyer

Responsibilities
  • Identify and qualify sources of supply for new part numbers, establishing purchasing data such as pricing, suppliers, planned delivery times (PDT), and planned cost.
  • Develop and expand supplier options in coordination with regional Commodity Buyers/Lead Buyers, negotiating contracts that enhance delivery performance, reduce lead times, and ensure competitive pricing.
  • Maintain accurate source lists and introduce alternative suppliers when beneficial to service center delivery requirements, ensuring compliance with the EB‑approved supplier list.
  • Perform regular maintenance and clean‑up of purchasing master data and info records to ensure accuracy and system integrity for assigned commodities.
  • Support procurement operations by closing procurement tasks in PS’s for NP and assisting Procurement Operators with order confirmations, overdue POs, and supplier on‑time delivery issues.
  • Resolve invoice pricing discrepancies within the VIM tool and achieve performance targets including PDTs, cost savings, optimized payment terms, and improved working capital efficiency.
  • Exercise authority to halt processes involving defective products/services or suspend waste disposal activities that do not meet environmental standards.
  • Implement and support initiatives to reduce purchased‑parts inventory, enhance working capital, and ensure efficient, compliant procurement practices.
Qualifications
  • Educational background in a technical or business discipline, with strong foundational knowledge in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Buyer or Procurement Specialist in a structured manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills with proven ability in supplier selection, sourcing strategies, contract discussions, and supplier development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with preferred experience in SAP/ERP systems and knowledge of Lean or continuous‑improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, with solid understanding of cost structures and cost drivers.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and root‑cause analysis abilities, supported by effective communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Highly organized with strong planning skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a global environment;
    Spanish language ability a plus.
  • Primarily office‑based with occasional warehouse visits, ability to lift up to 25 lbs, and willingness to travel occasionally.
