The Procurement Director is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies to optimize cost, quality, and efficiency in the sourcing and purchasing of goods and services. This role ensures effective supplier management, contract negotiation, compliance with company policies, and alignment with operational and financial objectives. The Procurement Director will lead procurement activities across direct and indirect categories, and may manage a team of buyers or sourcing specialists.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, select supplier/vendors and implement procurement strategies for MRO or construction related materials, equipment, services
- Source and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing, delivery schedules, and contract terms
- Ensure timely and accurate procurement of materials to meet operational and project needs
- Address any issues related to quality, delivery, or performance with vendors, working toward resolution
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legal regulations in the procurement process
- Maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions, contracts, and supplier communications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines, Work closely with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to understand procurement needs
- Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, or supplier performance
- Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, including cost savings, order status, and inventory levels
- Lead and mentor procurement staff, promoting continuous improvement and best practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
- Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is a plus
- 5+ years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management or construction industries
- Proven experience in contract negotiation, supplier management, and cost reduction initiatives
Knowledge of contract law, negotiation and vendor management.
Experience with MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) procurement and construction-related purchasing activities is strongly preferred
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and negotiation skills
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite) and procurement tools
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
- Knowledge of international trade, customs, and regulatory requirements (if applicable)
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
