About the RoleA large U.S.
-based distribution company is seeking a talented Business
Data Analyst to join its Houston team. In this role, you will compile, analyze, and verify import/export data, solve complex problems, and support compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) duty drawback regulations.
This position is ideal for candidates with strong data analysis skills and experience in supply chain, import/export operations, or trade compliance
.
- Compile and verify import/export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading
- Extract, manipulate, and analyze data from electronic sources (.xls, .txt, etc.)
- Perform drawback analysis and support CBP compliance initiatives
- Pull and analyze data from U.S. Customs ACE (Automated Commercial Environment)
- Extract and analyze data from Cargo Wise
- Identify and research HTS codes
, ensuring accuracy and compliance - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve data discrepancies and operational issues
- Develop working knowledge of supply chain processes, including logistics, planning, and customer master setup
- Work independently on assigned tasks while escalating complex issues when appropriate
- 2–4 years of experience in data analysis, trade compliance, supply chain, or a related field
- Supply chain experience is a strong plus
- Import brokerage or export forwarding experience is highly preferred
- Experience with HTS codes (classification and interpretation)
- Experience pulling and analyzing US Customs ACE data
- Experience pulling data from Cargo Wise
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, MIS, Finance
, or a related field - Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables required)
- Plus:
Access, SQL, or .NET - Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
