Baker Botts, a full-service, leading international law firm, is seeking an engaged and outgoing business development & marketing professional to join its Client Development team as a Client Development Manager supporting its Transactional practices. This hybrid, full-time, exempt position offers excellent benefits and may be based in the firm’s Houston, Austin, Dallas, Washington, DC, or New York offices.

You will work closely with the firm’s lawyers, leadership and your Client Development team to develop outstanding presentation pitches and responses to Requests for Proposals, as well as broader business development & marketing initiatives for our global Transactional practices (Corporate, Global Projects, & Tax).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of strategic business development plans and track and report progress on goals.
  • Prepare business development and marketing deliverables including pitch materials, formal RFP responses, brochures, thought leadership pieces, invitations, website content and other bespoke marketing materials.
  • Play a key role in supporting our digital infrastructure initiative by identifying potential business development and marketing opportunities and taking decisive action to exploit them.
  • Oversee business development activities and initiatives for our real estate and international trade practices.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance content while meeting client needs.
  • Prepare survey/award submission responses and compile client references for publications such as Chambers, Legal 500 and Law 360.
  • Track transactional experience to leverage for various marketing and business development purposes.
  • Plan and execute client seminars and external events related to the promotion of the practices, handling all details through to post‑event wrap‑up.
  • Assist with the organization of speaking opportunities and conference sponsor ships and act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders around attendance and necessary logistics.
  • Collaborate with our competitive intelligence team on the production, analysis and dissemination of detailed client and industry research reports related to initiatives and client meetings.
  • Maintain, update, and monitor digital marketing channels, including the firm’s internal website, event email marketing campaigns, ensuring content is engaging, accurate, and timely.
  • Coordinate internal communications related to marketing initiatives to ensure attorneys and staff are informed, engaged, and collaborating (e.g., event announcements, internal presentations); promote knowledge sharing across teams and departments.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of marketing collateral libraries (e.g., presentations, bios, practice descriptions, case studies, templates), ensuring content is current, consistently formatted, and consistent with brand standards.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and practice leaders to identify marketing opportunities that reflect the firm’s needs and goals.
  • Assist with regular reporting of ongoing transactional practice metrics and aid in budget management.
  • Support other business development initiatives and special projects as directed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in business development or marketing for a law firm or professional services firm is preferred.
  • Ability to strategize effectively, plan and collaboratively execute business development and marketing initiatives.
