What You Can Expect

As the REC Trading Director and Head of the RECs Desk, you will lead ENGIE Energy Marketing North America’s (EEMNA) Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) trading activities across voluntary and compliance markets. This REC trading desk leadership role is responsible for market‑making, risk management, and strategic optimization of REC portfolios, ensuring alignment with ENGIE’s best practices and zero‑carbon objectives.

  • Serve as the primary dedicated market maker in voluntary and compliance REC markets for internal and external customers, particularly supporting the Supply business
  • Ability to make competitive REC markets and provide market access to affiliate companies
  • Ensure all transactions are accurate, transparent, and compliant with ENGIE best practices
  • Manage risk of EEMNA REC positions across all relevant markets
  • Identify optimization opportunities within the REC portfolio/inventory and broader market
  • Provide insights and analysis into REC market fundamentals to inform trading strategies
  • Originate REC Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and collaborate with Origination and Power desks on structuring PPAs
  • Work effectively with back‑office teams to streamline processes and implement improvements
  • Execute trades in compliance with Credit and Legal requirements
  • Provide regulatory insights on impacts to compliance and voluntary markets
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory and product compliance requirements
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, STEM, or any related discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years of REC trading or relevant environmental products trading experience (e.g., carbon credits, renewable fuels), with proven leadership in voluntary and compliance markets
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Clear and effective communicator with ability to engage in dialogue and debate with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work autonomously and lead cross‑functional teams
  • Proficiency in trading and ETRM systems and advanced Excel
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex analyses and defend recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work on cross‑functional projects and stakeholder engagement
  • Analytical profile, ability to provide precise and solid insights, identify causes and conditions, structure action plans, and propose and defend those to the leadership
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy and limited oversight
  • Team player comfortable operating in matrixed structure and managing stakeholder expectations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to develop cogent reasoning to defend analyses and perspectives
Additional Details
  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy; 4 days in the office
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Compensation
  • Salary Range: $176,900 – $271,170 USD/CAD annually
  • This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate
  • ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
  • In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan
