Overview

The Director, Power Generation Sales role is responsible for the strategic development of the company’s commercial opportunities in the power generation industry sector. Focus includes product line development, marketing, sales, profitability, and market‑share gain. The individual will work collaboratively with other Cooper resources to develop customer relationships, service Cooper’s existing installed base, and expand our power generation products into new markets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identify key customers and opportunities for sales growth and market‑share gain, including aftermarket sales to Cooper’s existing installed base and new power generation equipment sales to end users.
  • Lead strategic product planning, including forecasting inventory levels, pricing structure, product development, and packager relationships.
  • Conduct Voice of Customer (VOC) activities to identify specific needs of the customer.
  • Support and drive new product development (NPD) activities through marketing scopes, costing, price positioning, channels of distribution, and go‑to‑market strategy.
  • Perform market studies to understand keys to product acceptance and competitive landscape.
  • Develop product requirements incorporating feedback and input from customers, partners, and in‑house teams on product strategy and finding ways to expand product market reach.
  • Define and maintain product roadmap for the Cooper non‑OEM product lines in coordination with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate product performance to help develop and update product portfolio.
  • Be responsible for internal and external communication on Cooper’s power generation solutions.
  • Partner with Marketing to help define go‑to‑market strategy & messaging, assist with product positioning, benefits, and target key opportunities.
  • Support sales and operations planning through accurate forecasting based on end user fleets and maintenance budgets.
  • Travel as needed (50%+ is expected).
  • Take on additional responsibilities, as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Direct Customer Sales in the Power Generation industry.
  • Demonstrated industry experience and network.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude.
  • Proven quantitative skills with an emphasis on business and financial acumen, especially with the ability to interpret data and draw conclusions.
  • Proven project management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated history of exhibiting positive energy and contributing as a change agent for the organization; expected to be energetic, resourceful, and hands‑on with a strong bias for action, driving change and achieving business results.
