Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Executive Director, Accessibility Services and Resources is responsible for collaborating with members of the System to proactively create usable, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environments for the System's community. Maintains knowledge of applicable laws, Board Policies, and Chancellor's Procedures in relation to disability services, reasonable accommodations, and accessibility programs. Provides leadership to direct strategy and initiatives for ensuring compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (1990) and the revisions under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Develops, oversees, and evaluates business processes associated with the accessibility services and programs. In partnership with the Sr. AVC, OGAC and other key College collaborators participates in the facilitation of LSC's alternative dispute resolution processes to achieve informal resolution of ADA related concerns. Serves as the System's ADA Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for overseeing the interactive employee ADA and other applicable law accommodation request processes, including intake, documentation review, accommodation recommendations, documentation, tracking, reporting, and assessment of the process. Also responsible for the ADA accommodation request process and implementation for third parties attending System activities and events
  • Oversees the process for requests for reconsideration of accommodation denial and/or System proposed accommodation and issue timely determinations
  • Ensures compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Pregnancy Workers Fairness Act, and other appropriate laws mandating reasonable accommodations
  • Supports and collaborates with campus Disability Service Offices to ensure the College's System's delivery and effectiveness of reasonable accommodations for eligible students, faculty, and staff with disabilities, including ensuring policies and procedures related to accommodations are current
  • Compiles and submits System reports related to disability services statistics, accommodation request processes, and accessibility evaluations to comply with requests by management, state, local, and federal regulatory agencies
  • Maintains case files and databases regarding active and inactive disputes or complaints as assigned; compiles and reviews case records to assess for patterns of behavior and areas for training and education; periodically evaluates the efficacy of the ADA and accessibility programs
  • Supervises System Office employees assigned to support the System's delivery of accessibility services
  • Continuously reviews, analyzes, and evaluates operations seeking opportunities to improve services; ensures compliance with all applicable internal and external rules, regulations, and guidelines, as well as with LSC policies and procedures
  • In collaboration with the Executive Leaders, establishes and reports on annual Key Performance Indicators and goals for the department and the System
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned
